I have been layering my clothes since forever. I feel it helps in making the outfit extra special because not everyone thinks of layering as an enhancing tool. So, you can pick out some really awesome basics and throw them together to have a completely different look. Now,its a misconception that layering is only for winters. You can create some really breezy and cool looks with layering for summers too.
So what are the layering basics(at least for summers) –
These are anyways a huge trend this season and if you are not too keen to show off your mid-riff just throw a shirt over it and enjoy the effect. You can choose from various length available, a lot of them end just above the naval which a good length. You also get them in laces, racerbacks, halters, prints and stripes so go ahead and take your pick. A basic black one like this goes extremely well with a chambray, washed denim, linen or a cool printed shirt. You can just throw it over and leave the front open or, here’s the best part, for girls who have smaller shoulders it helps balancing the body shape out especially if you wear it with the shirt’s button open till just above the naval. Combine it with your shorts or denims or linen palazzos or even skirts and Bam!!!!! you’ve nailed the look.
2) A lace hem sleeveless top
Here’s an open request, whenever you are buying these please buy two and send me one over. I’m not joking when I say, that this top is your best friend. They come in tonnes of colors and lots of fabric variations like spandex etc. You have to make sure they fit snug and sit just a little above the widest part of your hip. MUST HAVES when you want to wear your low waist jeans, leggings or Yoga pants. They just somehow seem to shrink your waist and take the attention away from hips. Combine them with Shrugs(short or long) and the best part is you can make it as dramatic or as casual as you like it. Also, good news for my plus size girls, it hides all that you don’t want to be seen. Cutting out your shape with the lines made by the shrug slimming you down.
3) The Denim/Chambray shirt
You can throw these over racer backs, strappy tops, bustiers, muscle tees, dresses …. the list is endless. These are pretty easy to combine with most of the colors and wear them front open with your wide legged linen pants for that awesome summer dressy look. They look fantastic again with yoga pants or even track pants for a chilled out afternoon.
So there you go summer layering basics. Hope you’ll try them out and do let me know how it went. Please remember to like and share. Take care.
