So, since its vacation time and we are looking at spicing up the routine a bit I figured out this hack which brings the two stars of breakfast together and is also fun to do!!!! If your kids are fussy about egg’s edges getting too crispy or are randomly not inclined towards eggs, this can be a good option to try out. It keeps the eggs nice and moist as they get cooked through, which typically is a plus when
offering it to kids.
So what’s need-
Bread and Eggs !!!! that’s it of course a bit of ghee or butter to cook and salt to taste. Here it goes…
Take a slice of bread and with a cookie cutter, or if you don’t have that, any utensil with a sharp edge will do. Cut the center of the bread out. Now you can make this into a kid activity too by letting them cut out shapes a star or a heart or a bear and so on. Though I decided to stick to the good old circle.
Once done, pop the gas stove on and toast the bread on one side on a non stick pan. You can add the ghee or butter here to make it extra crispy and flavorful.
Now , turn the bread over and here’s the finale… crack an egg (whole) in between the cut out that you made in your bread. Swivel the pan a bit to make the egg cover the whole of the cut out, especially if you selected a tricky shape. You can also coax the egg with a spoon if there are some crevices uncovered, depending on the shape you selected.
Season the egg well and then, on a low flame cover and cook it for another 2-3 minutes or till the egg white turns completely opaque. Once done, scoop it out and plate it up !!!
